I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.—

As a Virtizen you have the right to step up onto your soap-box and let your voice be heard all across the vast Virtual States of America and beyond, out yonder on the internet. We will help you. We Virtizens must take it upon ourselves to help our friends and neighbors over there in the United States of America, our physical brethren, who are engaged in an epic struggle against moral decline and financial ruin. It is uncertain whether they can prevail against the forces they are aligned against or whether their leaders have come to grips with the root of the problems they face, many of which they have brought upon themselves.
We must not shrink from our responsibilities to our fellow man. Harking back to another time and borrowing from Winston Churchill, we must
“take up our task with buoyancy and hope and feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time we feel entitled to claim the aid of all and we say come then, let us go forward together with our united strength.”
